Two weeks after college, I moved to Denver, and within a couple of months, I met Cody. In December 2015, his company relocated him to Dallas, Texas, and I landed a job in Dallas. We moved to Dallas together and ended up staying there until August 2018. We both knew that we ultimately wanted to move back to Denver, and the perfect opportunity came for that transition in August 2018.
In November 2020, we had a trip planned to the mountains for Thanksgiving. We had been to Breckenridge, CO, several times and always took a picture in the exact location. Cody had a sign made for our golden retriever Duke and popped the question at that location.

Samantha is from Cincinnati but now lives in Denver, CO. Her family is still in Ohio, and most of Cody’s family is in Michigan. We are all over the country, so a destination wedding in Mexico made the most sense. We kept our wedding small, with only 30 guests total, and we all stayed at the same resort (most arrived Wednesday and stayed through Monday, with the wedding on Saturday). Being at one resort for multiple days really gave us time to hang out with friends and family, which was terrific. Our ceremony and reception were held at the rooftop Sky Terrace, giving us an intimate setting. Our ceremony was at 3pm, and the reception was at 7pm. Most people would be worried about having such a significant gap between the two events. Still, it gave us plenty of time to get pictures and also gave our guests time to grab a quick bite or drink at one of the many restaurants on the resort or even time to freshen up. The wedding day exceeded all of our expectations.

When it came to dressing shopping, I knew the first place I wanted to shop was Bridal and Formal. My mom had gotten her wedding dress from there in 1988, and my sister and I went prom dress shopping here in high school. I remember coming to prom dress shopping and seeing the brides downstairs trying on dresses, and I knew I wanted to experience that one day. I researched designers and skirts and knew I wanted to try on Maggie Sotteros’s dresses. Being from out of town and planning in the middle of covid, traveling to Ohio wasn’t the easiest, but it just so happened that the weekend I planned to come home to go dress shopping was also the weekend that Maggie had a trunk show. I walked in knowing I wanted to try on the Elsie dress, but I was also open to her other designs. Elsie was the first dress I tried on, ultimately the one I chose. I loved how different the design was; it gave me tropical vibes.
My sales consultant, Iris, was terrific to work with. I could share my vision with her, and she brought fabulous dresses for me to try on.
