The ‘first of its kind’ event will run from 1 to 3 June during National BBQ Week and will give guests the chance to enjoy lunch or dinner using the supermarkets new summer range.

The garden will be open from 12pm to 8pm and looks to give some of the 15m Brits who don’t have space to host a BBQ, somewhere to enjoy one.

Guests will receive a Sainsbury’s food hamper on arrival and be provided with a hot Weber Spirit gas barbeque to use for free during the booking time.

There will be three hampers to choose from which will contain products such as beef rib and brisket burgers, Middle Eastern-style koftas and feta salad, as well as desserts and mocktails.

“Summer is a time for celebration and getting together with friends and family to enjoy delicious food. But for those who don’t have access to outside space at home, that doesn’t mean they should miss out,” Sainsbury’s director of product and innovation, Claire Hughes said.

“That’s why we’ve launched the Sainsbury’s Book-a-BBQ Garden, keeping food at the heart of it, as we make it our mission to ensure even those without their own outdoor area can still enjoy the season’s smoky, BBQ flavours.”

The garden can be pre-booked via Design my Night for groups of up to six people, with 90 minute slots available.
